Your main idea in that post seems to be a desire to argue that "social conservative" positions are examples of religious prejudice. My main point was that even if they are Laz's statement does not logically lead to any specific conclusion about his opinion on the abortion issue.

What is the logical basis, constitutional to deny domestic partnerships the same benefits given to
marrieds? That is the establishment of a religion (by deference to religious principle).

Nonsense. People may have logical, or non religious illogical reasons to be against legal benefits to non married couples that amount to the same benefits that married couples get, but even if not a single person was against these benefits for any other reason but their religious ideas, the lack of these benefits would not amount to establishment of religion.

When people vote on a public policy issue and their votes are influenced by their religious ideas you are not establishing religion. Establishing a religion is creating an official religion that the state accepts above all others. Usually it will be financially supported by the state. Perhaps you are talking about a violation of the "separation of church and state", rather then an establishment of a religion. However

1 - The constitution does not mention a separation of church and state, it only makes a statement against the establishment of a religion.

and more important in this context

2 - Allowing people to vote based on religiously based ideas and have their votes count as much as anyone else's does not entwine church and state unless they are voting to establish a church or to formally recognize some theological idea, or if the ideas of certain religions automatically get implemented and/or the ideas of other religions or of non religious people automatically get ignored.
