How about something for 3rd place! I really really really really like just ONE PIC. Thank you for your consideration. ps. I guess if I want one this bad I could pay for it but 3rd place deserves something. :)

Maybe Doug is your man, he seems to be prolific on the computer and keeping track of the contestants as well besides giving you constant advice. After winning this one he would also be there to defend his title, which could be tough if gold finally peaks as the market bottoms. <G>

When I started a similar contest on Prodigy for several years, we either used 100k or strictly percentages and it went strictly month to month. You entered 1-4 stocks (had to be $2 or less as sometimes a .05 stock goes to .20 and blows away the numbers and competition)and then the only change was the following month when a new "monthly contest" was started. It closed on the last day of the month and started the first day of the month. For example April entrees had to be in by midnight 31 March and winners were base on market closing prices on 30 April. This simplifies the confusion from trading during the period, but allows a new start each month.

We also shared winning strategies and someone usually donated the winning price, including Prodigy a couple of times. With these rules there was no fees involved and since the work was primarily at beginning and end of the month a volunteer scorekeeper kept track of the contest standings. Anyway, just some alternative thoughts like I gave you before you started this one. <G>

...not discuss [new contest] DURING TRADING HOURS!

Message from Dave Gore at Mar 25, 2002 6:49 PM

SUBJECT: NEXT STOCK CONTEST...

Photo website: naturescapes-gallery.com

... I will continue to gladly donate the larger photo prizes
for the top two or three winners, but...
To me and you, the contest is a blast but not the main area
of focus for this thread... [end.]

Dave,

While contest # 1 has 4 more trading days,
and it is "Not over until it's over." rules,
even if I do win First Prize or place in the top few,
the credit goes to a few other folks that recommended to me
these two gold mining companies, and while I'am sure I could
obtain more gold'en stock picks, the actual trading activity required
for your second and most likely last contest before you continue on
the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Happy Trails (1940s song ?)
I would be totally out of my elements since I do not engage in
anything like whats done on this thread as I just did a buy long ago
of some extra speculative pennies for a long term hold.

So eventhought I will not enter your second contest even if i win
this first one I would like to comment on what you mentioned
in your post of "... the contest is a blast but not the main
area of focus for this thread..." in that you might create another
thread called " Dave Gore's Contest That Make Sense" so that
it can have the ability to be discussed during trading hours
to allow contestants to discuss strategy real time for a few
very selected stock symbols contained in the contest picks.
That thread might just be a mirror parallel image of this thread
confined to just a handful or subset of stocks here with the added
focus to handle risk management as if one brought into a mutual fund
or something one cannot dump and leave.
