Zeev, the fact that they even mentioned it is pretty big,

Not only is it big, it's a crime in my mind. They have no business trying to "prop" up equity prices. The longer the play this game, the longer it's going to take to get out of this mess.

IThey discussed other possible tools in their armamentarium, only because they have used up the simple rate reduction (and it no longer impact longer term rates, the important one). I think that the options they discussed was raising back the fed rate so that if needed, they can lower back if the economy drops into the second dip. If we drop into a second dip with fed rates at 1.75%, the fed cannot do anything monetarily and only congress and the pres can come to the rescue via fiscal stimulus.

IMO, the Fed will not hike rates during the next meeting. Inflation is under control and this recovery is anything but robust yet. Anyone pricing a rate hike for the next meeting is in for a surprise.

JMHO.
