I still think this part will eventually happen:

<<The minutes said Fed officials considered a similar US scenario and concluded: "If in the future such circumstances appeared to be in the process of materialising [in the US], a case could be made at that point for taking pre-emptive easing actions, to help guard against the potential development of economic weakness and price declines that could be associated with the so-called 'zero bound' policy constraint.">>

Hi TM, this amok-ness is scary, just as cloning pets, testing anti-gravity boots, and human testing of A-bomb fallout effects are. Can it actually work to cover the potholes on the road to NAV paradise? I am of two minds, as usual. Maybe there is method to madness.

As a reminder, at about the same time, Japan considered using massive Yen to buy US bonds to drive Yen down, dollar up, so as to sell more SUVs. Coordinated group think? Nasty.

By comparison, the HK government's market intervention in 1998 was USD 10 billion one day kiddie league stuff.

Watch shorts, and get PM underwear.

LOL, I think the financial tsunami will occur before they get the chance to do that kind of stuff, confidence in the con game will end before they have a chance imo.

I don't understand your animosity towards Uncle Al. I read what you posted and saw a man doing his job, that's all - considering some contingency measures in case the traditional weapons of the Fed. failed. Or are you so in love with the hypothetical New Depression that has become so popular lately that you would prefer that the Fed. not use every tool at its disposal to prevent one?
