Intel Solution Blueprints Build On Momentum of Server Architectures
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 25, 2002--Intel Corporation and dozens of leading software developers, solution consultants, and IT hardware companies are working together to craft Intel® Solution Blueprints, the latest reflection of industry momentum and solutions support for Intel's server architectures. Solution Blueprints document proven enterprise solutions for Intel-based servers that have been tested or previously deployed for a specific business need, with a commitment by hardware, software and solution integrators to make the solution easily repeatable for other businesses to quickly deploy.

``Collectively as an industry, we are developing proven enterprise server solution recommendations that provide what companies are asking for most -- cost-effective solutions that are fast to configure and tailored to individual business needs,'' said Deborah Conrad, vice president, Sales and Marketing Group, and director, Intel's Solutions Market Development Group. ``Solution Blueprints will provide companies with easier deployment and peace of mind knowing these are reliable, high-performing and battle-tested solutions, and that the business relationships among the different vendors is established and successful.''

Intel is working with a variety of solution integrators and providers, as well as hardware and software companies, including Accenture Ltd., BEA Systems, Inc., Cap Gemini, Compaq Computer Corporation, Deloitte Consulting, Dimension Data Holdings plc., EDS, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Hewlett-Packard Company, i2 Technologies Inc., Information Services International-Dentsu, Ltd., KPMG International, Magic Maps, Microsoft Corp., MSC.Software, Oracle, Pivotal Corporation, Plumtree Software, Plural Inc., PwC Consulting, Questra Corporation, SAS, Scient, Inc., Siemens Business Services, Silverline Technologies Limited, Speechworks International, Inc., Stellcom Inc., Triaton, and Xcelerate.

Intel Solution Blueprints specify business needs, solution benefits and deployment guidelines, including application software, middleware, operating systems, platform and hardware specifications, and include recommendations for specific processors, such as the Intel® Xeon(TM) processor family or the Intel® Itanium(TM) processor family (including the forthcoming McKinley chip, due in mid-2002).

Most Solution Blueprints target vertical industries such as financial services, manufacturing, energy, retail, government, telecommunications and digital media, addressing the unique performance and services each require. Solution Blueprints are already underway in some of these industries this quarter. Ultimately, Intel expects to publish hundreds of Intel Solution Blueprints, which will be serviced through a variety of system integrators.

Before a blueprint is crafted, it is tested and tuned at a solution provider's facilities or in one of dozens of worldwide Intel e-Business labs co-located at OEM and solution integrator sites. Additional stress testing and tuning can be provided via 16 Intel Solution Centers or on-site services.

Intel Solution Blueprints are free of charge and can be found online at www.intel.com/go/solutionblueprints.

Intel, the world's largest chip maker, is also a leading manufacturer of computer, networking and communications products. Additional information about Intel is available at www.intel.com/pressroom.
