James Earl Carter was as successful as he wanted to be. He was the one who defined the economy in terms of the misery index. Too bad his own negative campaigning was his own worst enemy. It should serve as a lesson to every politician.

Reagan was the only one who could have defeated communism. If that is selling out, then please take the invitation to live in say China, or Cuba. He was also the only one who could have indexed tax brackets. The fact that causing inflation could not automatically increase taxes caused much dismay among the tax and spend crowd. Is that what you disliked about him?

By the way, the treasury does accept voluntary tax payments if you feel under taxed!
