C4T, you're right. The worst possible scenario when doing so is you might be wrong. Ah, but those are the life's greatest lessons. Regarding a catalyst for a downward move in prices it could be anything. I have my own ideas but of course it would only be guessing. But one stock I'm watching here is FNM. There's been a lot of talk of inquiries and investigations. That combined with a chart pattern that says a major break is close at hand, would be just one candidate.
