Could they be that incredibly stupid? If they did, we would be able to "settle" this issue for at least 20 years. I think Warren is wrong, but this whole situation is crazy.

Can they be that stupid? Sure, no problem. They are led by the nose by Pride, Honor, and Hatred. Saddam's motivation is obvious, and Bashar Assad is quite stupid enough to be led along. Iran hopes to get the best of both worlds by fighting the battle by proxy, knowing we don't want to bomb their population who are all sick and tired of the mullahs.

On the one side, debka and David Warren. On the other, the rest of the Western press. I have a sinking feeling that debka and David Warren are on to something and the rest of the western press (led by the clueless NY Times) is about to be caught flat-footed.
