I don't look at this as constructing a high rise building where the 3rd floor had to be completed in order that 4th floor can be built on top of it.

3G is integrating into its implementation some elements of 4G. WLANs with the laptops equipped with SIM cards. This was put into the background (or the backburner if you wish) because the proponents of 3G are companies that poses themselves as mobile terminals manufacturers, (NOK and ERICY).

I believe they felt the market would lose their messages if they started saying there would be thousands of Lap Tops equipped with a SIM card and a transceiver. Their audience would go talk with Compaq, MSFT and all those guys.

MSFT -Eric and me are keep track of that in the NOK Thread- is biting hard at the ankles of NOK. And NOK is trying hard to be a significant part of the new generation of wireless.

That because MSFT knows that LAN's will be ported to wireless.
