What is interesting is HWP/CPQ talk about merging to take on IBM and yet IBM has a ton of critics.

You wonder who is right? The critics or businesses that want to try to emulate IBM?

ITZA a stumper to me...

IMHO IBM is gaining market share in many key areas. In other areas IBM has announced products which appear to be best of breed. It seems unlikely that margins will be a significant factor in near-term EPS growth. That leaves revenue increases as a key to IBM's future. It is hard to envision a world where IT isn't going to increase it's role in the economy. It is even more difficult to envision the world economy not growing. Eventually increased market share in a growing market will yield increased revenue. Hopefully, we will see higher revenues reported for 1Q2002. Until the earnings report everyone will have to read the tea leaves and guess.
