Is the Internet closed? No, it's open unless you authored your site with Microsoft's tools.

Is Java closed? No, it's open unless you wrote your Java app with Microsoft's tools.

Is email closed? No, it's open unless you attach documents that were created with Microsoft's Office suite.

Seriously, what closed community are you talking about?
