My SMC router has a specific printer port to hook the printer to. It is on the backside of the router.Perhaps yours will also. After that, it is a snap to install the software provided with the router . I use one printer for 4 computers via the router and also have different printers still connected to some of the computers for special printing needs.

Since you're on a router, I assume your PC's are networked? If so then just turn on your print and file sharing so you can both use the printer
Go to Start....Settings....double click Control Panel.....double click Networking.....press the File and Print Sharing button....... put check mark in I want to allow others to use my printer ( or words to that effect)gg

We have 5 PC's linked to the router through a hub here, all are networked, and aside from an occasional irrelevant problem (because of Epson and Windows XP), the printer works fine for all of them. Using a Linksys router..total cost of the router and the hub were probably less than 110 bucks. The hardware was easy. Getting all these tempermental windows computers to talk to each other was a bit more daunting.
