Interesting that you mention that. As far as I can tell from sources independent of the book (and not obviously derived from it), at worst Prescott's hands were as dirty as Joseph Kennedy's in terms of business dealings with Germans. I have seen allegations that there were fronts for actual Nazis involved in these schemes, but I have only been able to be sure of the connection I described (the Thyssens), and the siblings were never Party supporters, as far as I could determine. By the way, as a Senator, he was a moderate with a strong civil rights record.......

Oh, I just remembered something. Prescott had a one percent interest in the firm cited for violation of the Trading with the Enemy Act. A few other directors also held one percent interests. The balance of shares, somewhere around 90%, were held by the Harrimans, who also essentially controlled the deals the firm made.
