Ummm... they don't kill civilians on purpose, and they don't oppress their own people or use them as pawns. They're also a democracy. All of that is way more than I can say for most of the Arab states. Z, first, you have stopped starting your posts with my name. I hope that doesn't signal that you are angry with what I have to say. My intent is not to instigate or incite.......I just think that this crisis in the world is going to require some unique thinking on the part of everyone. As for why Israel deserves the West's generous financial support, I think those are all good reasons. However, there a number of countries that would fit that bill but get little if any aid from the West. The US alone provides aid to Israel as if its were a long lost cousin. I wonder if our interests and Israel's as well wouldn't be better served better if a portion of the economic aid were splintered off and given to some other countries in the region. >The Arabs/Muslims make up 1/3 of this world. I think its in our best interest to see if there are ways to improve our relationship with them, don't you? Actually, it's more like 1/5, but that's nitpicking (sorry)... Why would one want a good relationship with bad guys? Come on, not all Arabs/Muslims are bad guys. Do you think that the law abiding Arabs or Muslims in this country are genetic freaks? Besides, its not that rare for the US to have relations with bad guys when it serves our interests.;~)) ted
