An Islamic group had taken the entire prime minister's cabinet plus prime minister, excluding Trade & Industry minister, hostage in parliament building in 1990. The T&I minister was visiting HK at the time and missed out. The US is setting up office in Port-of-Spain to supervise port/cargo inspection because Trinis are too relaxed. The trouble with ocean-going container bombs is that, when made sufficiently powerful, do not need to get to, or even near, intended target to be effective; and the designers are not afraid of having the bomb discovered. The inspectors should be afraid. Any kaboom, global trade will grind to full stop pronto. Insurance cover will disappear. Trade finance will vaporize. Psychology will not be positive.
