They call them Romano up here, but perhaps something else in other places. It's a spotted large bean that is popular in Italian cooking... a lot of our Italian friends grow them in their gardens and cook them when they are still sort of partially dried. We get the ones canned by Unico, but that's a company in Canada. I would suspect there must be some equivalent available elsewhere. They are a large bean (larger than Pinto beans), but without that tough skin that kidney beans usually have.
