Let me edit your statement to show reality:

Hammer has (is planned to have) 64 KB L1s and a 1 MB L2 (also a planned thing), while Northwood has 8 KB L1s and a 512 KB L2. Why don't you compare Hammer with Prescott?

Something about what's here today and what may be here tomorrow (~9 months).
