This could be true for an exotic platform [itanic is there too?].
We are talking about the mainstream "x86 Windows
compatible" platform.

I'll take a risk to dispute this statement too :-)
Sometimes the short-term fluctuations are fairy
chaotic, but the long-term averages are clearly
identifiable, at least the main direction of them.
The Moore's "law" comes to mind...
