I think we should be free to hate whomever we want.

Even if it is a group of people we've never met. For example, I hate the Ku Klux Klan, and I automatically hate anyone who belongs to it, and who has a robe and hood in his closet. If I decide I want to hate the Irish, I think that is my business. Of course, "hate" is a pretty subjective word, and the line where "dislike" becomes "hate" is murky at best.

I don't think government has any business telling us not to dislike others, or not to hate others. I think government only should step in when and if our dislike or hate manifests itself in overt action. And then, if we are punished, it should be for the overt action, and not for what is our head.
