It's good if the hunter find good in it. And if it doesn't harm you, and you don't live in the same state as the hunter anyway, it's none of your business.

Obvious you have never eaten elk. Very tasty and lean. Good for you. I know people who live on it.

hunting wild game is often more humane than the slaughterhouses where we derive most of our sources of meat. so in that sense hunting is good. wild game as a source of meat is probably healthier as well.

Elk hunting is good in and of itself and needs no explanation for those who know it. For those who don't, no explanation is sufficient.

For people who let others do their killing for them while judging those who do their own, I have nothing but pity. They are too far removed from life.

Although completely irrelevant to the subject of elk hunting, elk do tend to trample down haystacks and winter pastures down where I was raised. Up here in Southeast Alaska they are considered something of an exotic, having been introduced for no good reason that I can think of.

Elk are not endangered anywhere that I know of. They are making a fine comeback in many areas, including Pennsylvania, and Kentucky.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is an environmental organization that puts its money where its mouth is by buying elk habitat and returning it to the elk. It is dedicated to "Elk and the hunt."
