1) Fashions come and go. The cute new thing today will be a weird anachronism, maybe an eyesore, tomorrow.

That would bother me if I had a store that sold used Macs. Apple on the other hand benefits nicely from that.

2. 2) No expandability.

Huh? What about PCI, Firewire, USB, Bluetooth (coming soon), Ethernet, and 802.11? Don't those count? PCI is not available in the laptops or in iMacs, but frankly who cares? When's the last time you wanted a peripheral that didn't come on one of the other interfaces?

3) No matter what Apple says, their processors are far slower than those in Intel and AMD PCs.

Bzzzt. Wrong answer. I don't run benchmark applications. I run Office (which runs perfectly fast enough on both platforms), the Web (ditto), and graphics and video editing apps, both of which are screamingly faster on a dual-800 AltiVec Mac than any comparably-priced Wintel box.

4. Few games

If I ever decide to run some games I'll buy a PlayStation 2.

5) Business buyers? Why buy a Mac when most of the business world uses Windows?

Do you mean business applications like Apache, sendmail, and all of the other Unix tools that ship for free with every Macintosh? Or are you talking about DB2 apps for your warehouse administrator? Those guys are probably better off on DOS machines.

I've spent enough time on this topic. Enjoy, you guys!

Dave

Does any of this bother you? It should!

not a single one of your points was even close to correct.... no expandability? are you for real? you act like you've never seen a computer let alone a G4?

and processors are slower? you act like you've never used a real application side by side; G4 next to a Wintel? here is a page that has the processor speeds measured accurately, again from an independent source.....

cpuscorecard.com

now, notice these are for single processors.... since you act like you've never even seen a G4, i'll let you know that a G4 has DUAL processors..... that means i can run photoshop way above a wintel system, around 1.5 times a 2.1 ghz pentium on all intensive CPU tasks (floating point tasks) and in the real world that is all that counts....... and why apple has been able to sell so many computers, and why the stock is outperforming MSFT and Dell and all the other box makers since Jobs took over....

one of these items (especially the stock performance) should have given you a hint to dig deeper into your assumptions, none of them were correct......

I think the new models will attract a few buyers in the short term but will not turn Apple around financially in the long run.,/i> - Don (headmissin) Green

Didn't know a turnaround was needed.

Excuse me! Did anyone else miss this besides me? Why was I not informed? Why is my stock price so far into the black if the company needs a financial turnaround?
