Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) was another success story, moving into the top 10 from 16th place in 2000. However, AMD's sales of nearly $3.9 billion in 2001 were almost $2.4 billion lower than the revenues required to be ranked in the top 10 in 2000.

Intel Corp. also ranked among the winners, with its revenue declining by only 22.1 percent, helping it to retain its dominant worldwide position.

Couldn't add that part due to timelimit.

Milo,

Interesting table. I had no idea that AMD was ahead of compnies such as IBM Microelectronics, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Hynix and Micron.

Other than Qualcomm and nVidia, who actually increased their semiconductor revenue, AMD and IBM Microelectronics were the biggest gainers in market share.
