I'm surprised and gratified that you, also, see the issue of reverse discrimination as a problem.

I've been fighting this battle since the 70s, when I worked at a school which gave preferential treatment to certain people based on race. I argued hard, but without success, for another criteria -- economic status would do, and would accomplish much the same goal, or preferential consderation for first time college attenders, etc., since the record is fairly clear that children of college graduates have an easier time than children of non-college graduates.

But no. It had to be race. Sigh.

Do you remember the slogan of part of the peace movement -- "There is no way to peace -- peace IS the way?"

I believe strongly that the same applies here. "There is no way to racial equality -- racial equality IS the way."
