OT/Roger that, Jack. And I rather post on topic anyway.

Of course, that's harder to do when a few people are trying to distract you AND the rest of the thread with personal attacks, snide remarks and baiting. If the thread monitor is reluctant to ban them? Putting them on ignore is the next best thing.

For me, at least, it eliminates the distractions time wasted reading and responding to them. So, I can focus more on on topic stuff instead of getting roped into these tit for tat exchanges that can go on and on. There's just no profit in it.

There're a couple of people that have followed me all over the web with personal attacks even though they've been on ignore and I've not responded to their posts for months. A friend PMed me that one of them (Jane something or other) has shown up here.

However, only the folks here who don't use the ignore feature have to read that crap. The thread looks clean to me.<g>

Diversity of opinion is important. And different points of view have helped me a lot. But bashers have no point of view. They are just negative. If our time is valuable to us, it just makes sense to reserve that limited time for reading those who make meaningful on topic posts.
