i doubt QCOM is the favorite short on that list. bears and bulls may quibble about QCOM's exact value, but i haven't heard of anybody saying they will go out of business.

Perhaps, but never having shorted (out of stubborn Bull pride) but sometimes wishing I had ...

... I should point out that in general Qualcomm is and has been more volatile than the others (which does make it a better choice for indulging trading strategies) ...

... so shorts could get caught short more easily than the other 3.

The chart tracks from just 3 dates (so it's not much of an indicator of anything) other than how the sector has been tracking closely, even though two of the market leaders have exceptionally strong balance sheets and two have balance sheets that truly suck.

That chart could look somewhat different a few weeks or months from now as it did several times last year.
