Unfortunately there is a now a growing movement within the African-American community to get even with European-Americans for participating in the slave trade up until the Civil War. Of course it is immature, wrong-headed and mean spirited -- mean spirited because it slaps the faces of the ancestors of those who sacrificed greatly with the spilling of their blood to end the slavery of blacks once and for all.... So white folks have already paid for the crimes and mistakes of some of their ancestors, and today, many blacks are in fact given preference over whites in situations where both parties are equally qualified, so they have paid again for the mistakes of their ancestors, and that is where it should end. Enough is enough, and we have to face the fact that some African-Americans pushing their reparations agenda are simply being greedy and counting on the continuing passivity of white folk so they can cash in. There was an excellent discussion about this subject last night on the Alan Keyes show on MSNBC.
