Au Contraire - I admire the Golden Rule very much. Few other ethical standards contain a mechanism for judging novel situations as well. It does not diminish the philosophy to know that it is older than Christianity. The Christain is not diminished because non-Christains share in the philosophy. If there is a diminishment it is where Christianity strays from the golden rule and requires an absolute and arbitrary standard for salvation.
