Zardoz walks to the cliff and gives Eric a hard push.
"You're right it does have some useful purposes."

You just have to careful of that "equal and opposite reaction" stuff, especially if you've walked to the cliff edge and given Eric a hard push back to safety. But look on the bright side, you can think of it like short selling and trying to find a profit at a lower level.

Wiley E. Coyote replies.

Although I never liked gravity, it could be useful for rockets completing their trajectories. Otherwise they would peel off into space forever once fired.

Gravity's effects on ballistic objects could be used in aiming a rocket or two in the directions of some alien pests that have been sniping at me. Once I walk on the air back to the edge of the cliff (without looking down, as that usually causes one to fall when one has inadvertently been relieved of terra firma suspensione.) -- I will then reinstitute the law of gravity, light a rocket, and aim it at the alien Z-thing.

If you don't love gold,
Then when you grow old,
You will be covered with mold
- And always feel cold.
Now you've been told,
So don't be so bold,
As to disparage to hold,
That great metal - gold.
