To All on thread,

I'm guessing that this explains why Cohu's backlog had such a nice bump up last quarter:http://www.investors.com/editorial/Tech.asp

Notes: New P4 with 2.4 Ghz clockspeed is being offered at 560.00 a piece ($2.00 less than last intro of the 2.2 Ghz). The P4 2.4 Ghz will be Intels first chip made on the 300mm wafers.

More for less !!!

300 mm wafers provied 225% more chips - combine that with .13 micron lines and Intel will yield 500% more chips per wafer. This allows More for Less !!!

Since testhandlers are about the last piece of equipment purchased for chip assembly lines - I 'd venture to say Cohu's big backlog was Intel needing more testhandlers (five times more??).

The article further states AMD has just started their conversion to .13 micrn width lines. They are anticipated to complete thei conversion by "years end".

It appears the need for testhandler will almost grow exponential as chips dies shrink with smaller line widths - as 200 mm lines are converted.

Plus the 225% increase of chips on the 300 mm.It all adds up to the need of more testhandlers wether they be made on 200 mm or 300 mm wafers.

It appears that Cohu is in a sweet spot for both technology advances.

By the time the semi equipment sector works it's way up to the top of IBD's 197 industry sectors my bet is this little small cap will be one of the years BEST PERCENTAGE GAINERS!!!

To Da MOON !!!

Bob

Anybody familar with ascending triangle patterns?

I don't see one, but I'm not a TA expert. It was a ascending triangle when it broke through 22. It could be forming one if it keeps retreating from 30. The weekly shows a nice pennant/flag.

I'm inclined to go short if wasn't in the strongest sector. The huge volume on the 22nd with no price movement is very bearish to me.
