Re Brasil rain forests: crossed my mind, the forest fires seen from far away. The Canadian/Finnish use other ways of killing forests, correct. Re killing forests (German situation): fir trees have tough times. 30% of Tannenbaum (whatever the english name - the tree you put up for Xmas) are sick. Also leaf trees suffer. I know it's all so darn romantic and antropo-/egocentric, but here's one of practical results of our emissions (S02, NOx etc). dj
