Charley, I have a habit of listening for ideas and not really noticing who is espousing them. I have heard that notion expressed, but I don't know that it came from journalists. It was more likely an opinion expressed by blog fans like you or those who think all reporters are commies.

Without being able to cite any sources, I still have no doubt that some reporters think that the internet is endangering certain journalism standards. Just like talk radio and TV have. It seems pretty obvious to me so it must be obvious to professionals in that business. It's also pretty obvious that competition from the internet, in other ways, is forcing traditional journalists out of their self-satisfied ruts. I know myself from my own work experience that units that provide services can get too full of themselves. I know also that they have professional knowledge, insights, and skills that you obviate at your own risk.
