HP Comments on Complaint Filed by Walter Hewlett

HP Believes Suit is Completely Without Merit and Will Vigorously Defend

3/28/2002 1:14:00 PM

PALO ALTO, Calif., Mar 28, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Hewlett-Packard Company (HWP) today made the following statement regarding a complaint filed today in the Delaware Chancery Court by Walter Hewlett:

We believe this suit is completely without merit and intend to vigorously defend it. We find it regrettable that Mr. Hewlett has chosen to resort to baseless claims without regard to the impact of his false accusations on HP's business reputation and employees.

We continue our progress in planning for a successful integration of our merger with Compaq. We look forward to the receipt of the certified vote result from the HP shareowner meeting, which we expect within a few weeks.

Wouldn't surprise me to see CPQ come ALL-THE-WAY BACK by day's-end from down .37 now

At this point, nothing would surprise me.

I believe the merger will go through and WW's action today will only serve to slow down the process, cost HWP more $$$, hurt sales, cause continuing loss of focus on the business, benefit the competition, etc.

WW is a card or two short of a full deck, imo.
