I walked and walked
upon the desert land
on the Passover Night
wondering why
why in this world
Jews that dine in Natania
have to drown in their wine
while all they have done
is to follow the Book

And standing almost where
the Jews must have walked
as they entered their Promised Land
Fleeing Egypt's Divine Cats
like so many devils
I wonder shouting to the stars
and half a moon
that lights the night
but shades many stars
because nothing is perfect

So I wonder and shout
why did we not
write a better book
