The sorry fact, Joe, is that there are lots of people like Cyberkenny out there. They think that only people who can afford new gas-guzzling SUVs bedecked with American flags should be allowed to vote.

A reform today would pay back everybody the pittance they paid for themselves, and fund full benefits for the retired and nearly retired. There is still the possibility of that. In 10 to 20 years, there will be nothing left but to pull out the rug. The federal government has no legal right to be in the pension business. There are reasons for that. We have, collectively, forgotten those reasons, and will suffer the consequences if we do not re-learn the lessons quickly...

It's too late for that, Joe. It's pay as you go now and it will be a bigger and bigger outrageous squeeze on the younger generation. They won't and shouldn't stand for it. The next generation will never get out what they put in.
