BMW,

Re: "I think that this is also dawning on the AMDroids, since they can't be
entirely blind to AMD's mistakes."

Tell that to Albert's "seeing-eye dog" ... <ggg>

Re: AMD's model numbers are not sufficient for AMD to use

They resulted in AMD's ASPs going up by about 50%, and Intel's ASPs going down by about 20%.

That might not be sufficient for you, but I'll take it with a smile.

You know, maybe if Intel did a little less whining about AMD labeling their chips according to the chip's performance, and instead put a little effort into shipping better performing systems, this wouldn't be such a problem for Intel.

Re: They require updates to every change in micro-architecture that AMD or Intel does

Nope, the numbers AMD uses are a good indicator of general performance relative to other chips on the market - which is as good as it gets for one number indicators. AMD's model numbers are a much, much, more accurate indicator of performance than flacid P4 mhz.

Tell me something, Wanna_bmw, do you think that a BMW's engine should be compared to engines in other cars by displacement (mhz) or horsepower (AMD model numbers)?

Do you think it would be honest for General motors to pay a car magazine to put out a strongly editorial article condeming BMW for rating their car's engines by their horsepower when competing Ford and Chevy sedans have larger displacement engines?

Re: What kind of credibility does AMD have when a 1.2GHz part is called 1.2GHz, and a 1.3GHz part is called 1500+?

It's a very accurate indicator of the performance of other chips on the market. Most other chips on the market at 1.2GHZ and below have firm, reliable mhz, while the Intel 1.5GHZ on up chips (P4) are stricken with flacid, inadequate mhz that often fail to perform.
