Dear Craig: This is going to shock you I guess but in the next 25 years or so the WHITE VOTE will be the MINORITY. Plus, Bush family has an affinity for Hispanics through marraige and locale. I think he is doing the right thing. JDN

Solidifying the white vote will provide only a temporary "fix" for the Republican Party and further alienate people in this great country on the basis of race. JDN is right. At some point in the future "minority" voters will outnumber white voters, and then the Republican Party will descend to the status of the Conservative Party in Great Britain unless it can (a) recruit minorities; (b) more important, persuade white voters to actually vote for qualified minority GOP candidates ... something that didn't happen in Texas last week.
