Berry probably considers herself African American for the same reasons that most Americans would: she's part black, and as the old saw used to go, one drop is enough to make you black. I hate it, but that's the way it is. I think Berry and lots of other mixed-race Americans, have it really tough. If she says she's white, she'll be accused of denying her blackness out of shame. She identifies herself as black and gets shit for it from the likes of that lunatic Coulter. And the fact is that MOST American blacks are of mixed race. The country itself is becoming more racially mixed with each succeeding generation. At some point, ideas of race in America are going to become moot. Not because we'll have conquered racism but because we'll have blended our genes together.
