Albert,

re: have you ever wondered why is that intel lost money in US and gained in Asia based on the comparable revenue.

Did you ever wonder why AMD lost money everywhere?

re: Could it be that barret was so eager to win back US retail market that it simply became unprofitable.

Most likely what happened was that Jerry went to the OEM's and said we have this great new Modelhurtz scheme to bamboozle the consumer into thinking our stuff has faster clock speeds. And so we expect YOU the retailer to pay extra for our higher model numbers! Such a deal! And the subsequent loss of AMD retail market share shows how well Jerry snowed the retailers.

re: Amd did very smart thing they left US market to Intel

To an extent, I agree with you. But it wasn't AMD's decision. They knew if they didn't raise their ASP's, they would be in a world of financial hurt. US retail wouldn't pay the price, based on the bogus QS scheme. Imagine what the losses would be if AMD had not raised ASP's. They had no choice.
