Yes, and all of his friends from college had good roles to showcase them, and Rosie Peretz had a great turn, and it was wonderful to see Ossie Davis and Rubie Dee in prominent roles again. Also, I am very fond of Danny Aiello and John Turturro, and "Do the Right Thing" used them very well. The sense of the neighborhood was extraordinary, and the palette that John Dickerson (the cinematographer) used gave one a palpable sense of the rising heat and tempers. I like Spike generally ("She's Gotta Have It" is a gas). I thought "Mo Better Blues" failed (and was mildly anti- semitic), but "Summer of Sam" was a tour de force.......
