Divestiture is a big part of my spirituality. I never feel so righteous as when I'm cleaning up and throwing out.)

That really hits a cord! When I need to clear out my head, out go all the old trappings. I feel so good with the accumulated "stuff" thrown into a dumpster or folded for Goodwill. We can't have a "yard sale" in our area but I can do a "free table." The last time I did that with old furniture, books, and still working stuff, I had so much fun talking to all the folks that surfaced. Many were young, some indigent, and some just wanted to take still good furnishings. I put out a mattress and box springs and decided that they looked a little tacky so I put a nice matching set of fitted sheets over both. A woman came by within minutes and took my sheets! A young man took several books and insisted that I take some money from him. I sent him down the street to the library to make a donation. At least I didn't have to lug them down there myself!

Traveling alone is difficult. I always need to have someone to turn to and say, "Isn't that incredible...or beautiful?" If you can find a group of people that have the same destination in mind as you do with the same interests, you have a common group to enjoy the adventures with.

I agree with you about finding a spot that allows you to have a great climate to live in each month of the year. The problem that I have is that the extreme heat and humidity of so many southern spots is unbearable to me in July and August. If I had the bucks, as we might have had if the NASD had continued in its rise, I'd own a spot in the south for January to April and then come back to Maine for the rest of the year. Alas, that plan is a past dream!
So, for now, I continue to work.

Years ago, I could sleep in a sleeping bag or futon anywhere, in a tent or just under the stars. Now, I like first class hotels, hot showers and fluffy towels, a great breakfast and fine wine with dinner.

Keep me posted if you find such a place!
