actually i should clarify one point. we do owe the world one thing, and ronald reagan said as much in his inaugural address: "We will strive for mutually beneficial relations. We will not use our friendship to impose on their sovereignty,* for our own sovereignty is not for sale."* --Ronald Reagan too often america has imposed on the sovereignty of other nations so i can see why we are despised. i think it's only fair that if we ask other nations to respect the sovereignty of our laws and borders, we respect their sovereignty as well.
