Good question. Does a press release tomorrow before midnight count? <g>

Yes it does but do you want to be the one to crow about it?

Joe, Re: <Good question. Does a press release tomorrow before midnight count?>

The announcement was that AMD would be shipping by the end of the quarter, not that they would be announcing.

First shipments will be made this quarter to customers.

Remember the XP announcement on October 9th?

Systems featuring the AMD Athlon XP processor, including models 1800+, 1700+, 1600+ and 1500+, are expected to be available immediately from Compaq, Fujitsu-Siemens and NEC-CI. Other top tier manufacturers, including Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard Company and MicronPC, also are planning to offer AMD Athlon XP processor-based systems.

The manufacturers had the product before the announcement -- and AMD had shipped the product before the manufacturers had it.

When do you think AMD started shipping the XPs? A clue. A MOBO revision was required, in some cases, to handle the XP.
