Suicide Bomber Hits Israeli Port, at Least 10 Dead

Mar 31 6:36am ET

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A suspected Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up in a
busy restaurant in the northern Israeli port city of Haifa Sunday, killing at least 10
people, police and medics said.

"We are talking about a suicide bomber," northern Israeli police commander Yaakov
Borovsky told reporters at the scene.

"The place was filled with a large number of people so we have many casualties," he
said, without specifying the number of dead or injured.

A spokesman for the Israeli Magen David Adom ambulance service confirmed media
reports that at least 10 people were killed in the blast in a Middle East restaurant near
a shopping mall and gas station.

The explosion blew a huge hole in the restaurant roof and spewed debris across a
nearby parking lot, televised footage showed. It was the fourth suicide bombing since
Israel's week-long Passover holiday began last Wednesday and at least 34 people
have died in the attacks.
