it's about empowerment dude

Who's empowerment? The forces seeking to remain in conflict with Israel to the detriment of the average Palestinian worker, or those forces who are more interesting in building a Palestinian economy where people are economically and politically empowered?

Because there is NOTHING that conveys significant evidence that Arafat is about empowering anyone who might oppose his rule. Rather the evidence suggests that he co-opts and encourages potential rivals and manipulates them to support his agenda.

He certainly no interest in empowering the average Jew's ability enjoy a cup of coffee, going to the mall, or enjoying a meal without fear of being blown up by some wacko incited, encourages, and rewarded for blowing themselves (and everyone else) up.

Did Communism, Nazism, or Fascism empower the "people", or was is merely a means of transferring power from entrepreneurs and private businessmen, to politicians and political hacks?

There's a quaint quote I heard once that has always stuck with as a result of its lucid understanding of humanity..

The difference between capitalism and communism is that, with capitalism, man exploits man. With Communism it's the other way around....

So no matter what "utopian" politico-economic system you envision about "empowering" the people, it will always find itself in conflict with the primal instinct of mankind.. the desire of mankind to oppress and dominate its own to their own benefit.

Only a system consisting of applied checks and balances against this human instinct, limiting the degree of power any one group can accumulate and exercise, can neutralize the evils of human nature.
