Teevee, implicit in your argument is the fact that if Arafat is their "leader", then it denotes that he is responsible for his "followers" conducting the type of attacks that they have, terrorist attacks directed specifically against civilians (as opposed to IDF forces). If the 75%(some claim 90%) of the Palestinian people who advocate suicide bombings against civilians truly are his "followers" (or vice versa, depending on how much pressure his rivals are exerting upon him), then the the Palestinian society at large must be dealt with, and "retrained" not to believe terrorism against civilians is a permissable form of conflict resolution. As for Ben-Yair's comments, his words are indicative that there is a political discourse being conducting within Israeli society. A discourse about exactly how to deal with the Palestinian issue, in the context of guaranteeing Israeli security. A discourse about whether Jews should be able to reside on the West Bank and Gaza, as the Arabs are permitted to live within Israel.. A discourse related to whether the Palestinians should have a autonomous "pseudo-state", but prevented from possessing a military... All of these issues are under discourse because of the nature of Israeli society.. It's called democracy. On the other side, the PA has taken to brain-washing young people into becoming martyrs, sacrificing their young lives on behalf of a craven and corrupt archaic leadership. In such a context, I can only wonder if there is any such thing as a Palestinian "Ghandi"... Hawk
