My wife was a surprise, as was my little brother. I guess the word unwanted does not figure into the picture all the time.

I am glad for you and your family. That's good that things worked out. But the thing is, if they didn't it's not anyone's problem except yours. I think you recognized that, and that's probably WHY things worked out. You did all the things you were supposed to, and took the steps necessary to make sure things DID work out. I would venture a guess that the reason why things don't work out for some is simply because the people involved don't care enough, feel that others should pay for their "misfortune", and refuse to accept the responsibility for their actions.

This country wasn't always rich, in fact it was poor for a long time, but people grew up and lived good lives, why should it be any different now than it was then? IMO it's because in the "then" the people took care of their own, they didn't rely on others, didn't try to shift the blame or responsibilty on others.
