From a scientific point of view, the problem with religion is the assumption that you already have the answers and hence need look no further. How did the universe begin? God created it. (So who needs Big Bang, hyperinflation, or steady state theories?) How did life begin? God created it. (So who needs the theory of evolution?) Why do you get sick? God wills it. (So who needs bacteria, viruses, carcinogenic agents, autoimmune diseases,.....?)

Thats not a problem with religion from a scientific point of view, rather it is a problem with certain specific religious points of view from a scientific point of view.
