We were discussing the relative vs. absolute existence of something and how such definitions may not produce a measurable difference between the objective fact that something exists versus the subject belief that something exists. In some situations, bravery and cowardice may not be discernibly different. A man who pretends to be brave while terrified can only be subjectively compared to an identical man acting out of courage due to a noble and lofty motivation idealized by society. God falls into this category for me.

I won't use the term G-O-D. I use capitalized Cosmic Force to allude to that notion and I say each of us is a "cosmic force" (lower case) as in my screen name. There is very little conflicting mythological bagage with my definition. I believe such a culturally neutral term provides greater mutal understanding than arguments about the absolute existence of a divine creator that is based upon ancient mythology of disparate ethnic traditions.

In many ways they are discussion of the same thing, except in discussing G-O-D we are discussing it in the view of our ancestors and our ethnic heritage, and using my terminology we are discussing it in a culturally neutral contemporary context. What G-0-D did or didn't do vis-a-vis the Hittites or Sodom isn't very relevant for me (or to me) today.
