There is a book by Forster about an English lady that has an Italian child that reminds of the whole Elian story. We may hate their system but at the end of the day we can't interfere with their familial relationships no matter what we think or feel. online-literature.com

Think of it as a rubber ball- -you push on it one place, it bulges out somewhere else.
