Hi Hemant, <<use gold to hedge against depreciation of other assets … use gold to provide significant capital gains>>

I will tell the truth, fully: more the former than the latter, before; and inching towards the latter now.

I had previously never thought about selling my physical gold/platinum ever, and at <5%, I did not need to.

I had always treated my physical gold/platinum as ‘near-consumption’ – the money that is not there – the financial reset button, hopefully never used – mental peace – the extra little bit of surprise to my future kids.

And, I figured if everyone and I are wrong about how the world has changed for the formless, cyber, digital, and fiat, I then would be slightly less wrong.

If gold rises to USD 3000 and platinum to USD 5,000, it hardly matters whether I have 5% or 50%, as far as I was concerned. I will tell a near-truth, ‘I am not as greedy as the next bug’:0)

I cannot see my physical PM allocation going above 10% of NAV.

I had always treated NEM and SWC shares/options as my petty cash box I reached for once every three months. I have been doing so ever since the days of dotcom and slashnet. The shares were perpetually bouncing within a wide channel. I did not care how much of it I owned or did not own, as long as I kept getting better off by bouncing with the shares. I had accumulated via short puts, and let go via covered calls.

I note your Intel connection. I had at one momentarily freezing time been putted 9,000 pre-split Intel shares after treating INTC puts as petty cash box. Ms. Luck bailed me out at good profit within two weeks. Miss Brilliance taught me never ever treat tech shares as wallet.

Maurice, Q-less in New Zealand, even goes as far as believing that tech shares are currency. He has a lesson from Mistress Q coming. They may very well be, but certainly not so dependable as senior PM shares.

Now I care how much of gold shares I have on hand, and I intend to have more, much more, by and by. I believe there is time, because there is much fighting spirit left in ‘THEM’, and I believe PM shares can be ‘traded’ just like dotcom and slashnet shares, and the bigger companies are much safer, relative to Lucent and Corning, and possibly even Maurice’s Q!

I believe in the current cycle of collapse or cleansing, near the end, the bottom, and therefore the light, we will see another Bre-X.

Such is the way of financial cycles and massed human surging forth.

Chugs, Jay
